Super Bowl LX is being on Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The headline singer during the halftime show will be Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known as Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny is a major reason Latin rap and reggaeton music have gained popularity in recent years.
When he was announced as the pick for the Super Bowl halftime performer, the decision wasn’t received well by some. While those who disapprove have said that their decision was solely based on the fact that Bad Bunny exclusively performs in Spanish, which I don’t have a problem with, it’s about time that someone who has a different approach to the genre takes the stage; especially since Bad Bunny has had most of his hits in the last decade.
In 2017, his popularity skyrocketed as he collaborated with Cardi B and J Balvin on the song “I Like It,” which hit charts as it rose to the very top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2018. Bad Bunny has already made his impact and has solidified himself as a great singer, rapper, and record producer. He has proved that he belongs as well as deserves to be the official Super Bowl halftime show performer. Yet, he still receives criticism for the NFLs decision to bring him in as the headliner.
Now, of course, with every commitment to any entertainer, there are always going to be people who either won’t like it or won’t accept it for the reality of what it is. Not long ago, Bad Bunny hosted the popular late-night show, Saturday Night Live, on Oct. 5, 2025, poking fun at his controversy headlining the Super Bowl halftime show with his monologue, sending inspiring messages to the Latino community.
Despite the backlash, I’m sure the show will be one to remember, as Bad Bunny has gained an insane amount of followers over the years. His unique, yet original approach to his performances is what makes him a truly amazing artist of this generation.
