The Tune of Your Own Guitar

We all have different ways to cope with stress; we find new hobbies, listen to music, talk it out with other people, but at the end of the day only one thing may actually work. Freshmen Tristen Grant explains his strategy, and what made him collect the good and bad memories, so he could overcome them.

“I have always wanted to play guitar after seeing my uncle play. My grandfather has a Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar. There was something about the sound that drew me in. The music was beautiful. It was a form of art I could and would learn,” said Grant.

Music was a major help. However, do we know why?

“At the time i had been in search of something; I was trying to find a hidden talent or maybe a hobby. It had always been something I had dreamed about doing because I had a love for music,” said  Grant.

Because it worked for him Tristen thinks that it may also work for others.

“ I would absolutely recommend it to others. It has helped me with relieving stress, and has been able to do something for me I could never do of myself; I could finally express myself,” said Grant.

The idea of finding a hobby like guitar is to find new ways to show emotion, or even release some.

“When I play the guitar it is the only thing I focus on. I get lost in the melodies. All of my surroundings go away along with all the negativity and stress. I find true happiness,” said Grant.
