ISSMA for Instrumental Performance
January 28, 2016
Saturday, Jan. 30 is the ISSMA District Solo & Ensemble competition for instrumental performance.
“Competing at ISSMA is actually really fun. It’s really fun to choose the songs and practice them until you get really good,” senior Johanna Anderson said.
This is not Anderson’s first shot at ISSMA.
“I’ve competed at ISSMA since seventh grade. Each year I’ve done a solo and an ensemble, except this year I’m only doing an ensemble because solos are very time-consuming,” Anderson said. I’ve gotten a gold every year and I’ve gone to State with ensembles every year since ninth grade and with solo in 10th and 11th grades. And I got golds at State each time as well. This year I am very excited to play in clarinet choir.”
This year’s district contest will be an all-day event held at Columbus East High School.
