As the second quarter of the school year commenced, so did the National Honor Society club with its activities. On Monday Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Erne Auditorium, the NHS induction started off with all the inductees gathered to receive a certificate and share an equal gratitude for this honorable opportunity.

Four days after being inducted, the NHS members assembled at the auditorium in the morning for their first meeting of the year. They went over the requirements for the club and other additional information.

President Sarah Towsley talks about some of the activities the NHS members are required to have completed by the end of the semester.

“NHS helps out with Operation Christmas Child, Love Chapel, building a girl’s school in Uganda, [and] Trick-or-Treating So Kids Can Eat,” senior Sarah Towsley said.

Furthermore, Towsley explains why the NHS club helps with these activities.

“These projects help support community events and service opportunities,” Towsley said.

The NHS club means community service and so much more to some of the new inductees, like junior Riya Jain who sees it as an honorable reward for all her time and effort put into school.

“To be inducted into the National Honors Society Club means that all my hard work has been paid off and i have a great opportunity to learn more about the community and help others,” Jain said.
