As a Freshman, the transition to high school can be overwhelming and stressful. Another thing to add to the stress can be school dances. With homecoming coming up, it can be easy for plans, outfits, and homecoming proposals to take over your life. This is a guide to help you get through homecoming, whether it be planning, what to wear, or the actual dance.
- Don’t set your expectations too high
- As much as your first high school dance can be exciting, don’t put it on a pedestal. Go in open minded and ready for new experiences, but don’t feel disappointed if it isn’t everything you dreamed it would be,
- Don’t stress too much about what you wear
- No matter what you wear, by your Junior year, you will probably look back and cringe. Just wear what you like in the moment, even if it is not on trend. If you feel confident, that is what matters.
- You don’t need a date
- Social Media and pop culture can put a big pressure on high school students having a date to a dance. I know how it feels to be wrapped up in finding a date just because many of your peers have dates. Just go with a group of friends and you will have a good time!
