The air gets cold. The leaves start to change. Everyones looking for a cozy way to spend their fall. Many turn to the hit early 2000’s show Gilmore Girls.
The show is a fall staple for many. Many of the episodes take place in fall, and unlike most series the episodes are 45 minutes long. I love how different it is from the other shows. They use very unique dialogue and references that only people who watched the show would understand. The show features Lorelai and her daughter Lorelai who everyone calls Rory. They are the sweethearts of their very small Stars Hollow town.
My favorite fall episode of all time is season 5, episode 7 “You Jump, I Jump Jack.” One of Logan Huntzberger’s early appearances in Rory’s world. One of the best parts about being a Gilmore Girls fan is getting to pick your “team.” You can be team Dean, Jess, or Logan. All of these boys are Rory’s boyfriends at some point and it has become a diehard debate of who is the best one.The episode also features one of the best Gilmore Girls saying of all time right behind “oui with the poodles already!”. “In omnia apparatus.” It means ready for anything.
The show is very exciting and very inclusive for its fans who are the only ones who get these unique references, and have gotten to feel the love of Lorelai, Rory, and the patrons of Stars Hollow. The fans even have their own social media communities to share their love for the show.It gives you something to relate to where there isn’t always a happy ending. It’s fun and joy filled but also realistic. It’s become a comfort show for many all year round.
I love how unique it is. None of the characters are the same. Everyone is weird, and no one ever cares about being cool or what others will think of the unordinary things they do or say.The characters have very strong personalities, and fans often develop strong opinions about them.. So it’s very enjoyable for those who are opinionated. It’s very unpredictable, the plot is never the same, and things are always changing. I wouldn’t recommend starting with season 1 as a first time watcher but once you get hooked- don’t worry you will- you can watch it all the way through however many times your heart desires.
The show is very popular; it received 500 million viewing hours and was in the top 10 streamed shows for 2023. It’s cozy, fun, entertaining, and unpredictable. All 7 seasons are adored by fans no matter the season. Although many love to “defrost” the show in the fall. Bottom line if you’re looking for a show to binge this fall season Gilmore Girls is definitely the best choice.
