Cross Country teams start the year off with a win

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

The Girls Cross Country has started their season with an 8-0 winning streak after winning the Brown County Cross Country Challenge at Brown County and the Edgewood 5-Way meet at Edgewood High School.

Sophomore Karrisa Bevis stated “There are little to no issues with COVID affecting the team.”

The girls still come together after school and practice as a team. The meets have been different, with only half as many people watching them. They have made an effort to broadcast every meet on Facebook Live for spectators to watch. Richard Sluder, the girls cross country is grateful to the school;

“The real MVP is the school for allowing us to have a season,” Sluder said.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Boys Cross Country is kicking it into high gear this season. The team is currently #1 in the state and #17 in the nation. The current record is 1-0.

“The team is like family, which makes running such a good environment,” sophomore Carter Howell said.

The team ran together over quarantine and summer on their own time.

“We will be a hard team to beat this year,” Howell said.

The next meet is Sept. 5 at Ceraland.
