5 Things You Don’t Know About Choir

5+Things+You+Dont+Know+About+Choir

For students not apart of the North choir department, it is hard to know what choir is really about. Senior Maria Sanchez is able to share the inside scoop on choir. She gave us five things that most people wouldn’t know about choir.

“Debs takes place 5c and we have lunch 5a, but two times a week it is mandatory to give up our lunch so we can rehearse two periods in a row,” Sanchez said.

Giving up a lunch might be a struggle for some students. Choir students are ok with it because it gives them more time to practice for shows.

“Most choir students try their best to never miss class because you can miss out on learning the music or choreography which makes it really hard to learn by yourself,” Sanchez said.

Choir is a class that would have difficult makeup work. You wouldn’t want to get behind because it is your personal responsibility to get caught back up.

“We run in circles around the auditorium while singing our songs to stay in shape for competition season,” Sanchez said.

This is one of the most unknown things about choir. You have to be in shape for competition and choir students must work on their stamina.

“You can waiver out of P.E. if you’re in the show choir because of the dancing,” Sanchez said.

This could be an advantage for students in show choir. Every student must have 4 total P.E. credits, so wavering can be helpful.

“It requires a lot of time commitment with the retreats, shows, competition, and rehearsals,” Sanchez said.

Choir is a big time commitment and students should be aware of that before becoming involved. There a lot of aspects that students don’t know about.
