Skipping Ahead

For most BCSC students, you would go through 13 years of schooling (K-12). But some students, like Sophomore Parker Lee, skip ahead.

“I skipped Kindergarten,” Lee said. “My mom realized I was really intelligent based on IQ tests she had done.”

Skipping a grade not only affected his performance in class, but also his social life.

“I’m younger than all of my friends now,” Lee said. “Some of them by a lot. Lots of freshmen are actually older than me. In terms of personality, I think I would have been much different based on who I became friends with.”

For Parker, skipping a grade has been a rewarding experience.

“I’m definitely glad I skipped a grade,” Lee said. “If I hadn’t, I never would have become friends with the people I have.”
